DaisyDisk is a $9.99 Mac App Store app with an awesome looking interface that makes managing storage space a walk in the park. DaisyDisk recently received an update, bringing it to version 4.0. Here is a look at the 4.0 change log: Brand new look-and-feel matching OS X Yosemite; Improved disk scanning speed (up to 20x faster) Reduced memory. DaisyDisk for Mac allows you to visualize your disk usage and free up disk space by quickly finding and deleting big unused files. The program scans your disk and displays its content as a sector diagram where the biggest files and folders at once become obvious.
Added support of APFS on High Sierra, in particular:
- Added display of 'purgeable space', i.e. the part of your disk space taken by system backups and caches, which is not scannable by user, but can now be identified inside the 'hidden space'.
- Added the ability to prompt the system to reclaim the purgeable space at once.
- Added the display of 'free space' in the right sidebar list, and also the estimation of 'available space', that is, 'free + purgeable'.
- Added the display of APFS 'other volumes', if any, in the same APFS parent container.
- Disk usage overview bar is now in sync with Finder and Disk Utility, i.e. the 'used space' no longer includes 'purgeable space'. The latter is now included into 'free space' instead.
- Added trial activation dialog, which requires the user to enter his email and then click the link in the email, in order to begin the trial.
Special Instructions for testers
- Please test the trial activation experience. This is a new dialog and a very important one for the overall user experience. You will be asked to enter your email and proceed to click the link in the received email in order to begin the trial.
- APFS support is your second major focus of testing. (By default, APFS is installed on Macbooks which upgrade to High Sierra; you can also install APFS manually on iMacs with High Sierra.) You should test the 'hidden space', 'purgeable space' and 'other volumes' special items.
- Please open Disk Utility and make sure that:
- 'Other volumes' in DaisyDisk is equal to Disk Utility's 'Other Volumes' figure.
- 'Purgeable space' in DaisyDisk is equal to Disk Utility's '(purgeable)' space figure.
- Also test reclaiming the purgeable space. Drag it to the Collector and delete, as you'd do with a normal file. Note that some amount of purgeable space will still survive after the procedure.
Known issues:
- A couple of strings in Chinese locales are not yet translated (appear in English).
- Polish and Japanese translations are not ready. If your system's preferred language is Polish or Japanese, please switch to English.
- Trial activation email is barebone without design. We're working on it and will make the template appear pretty.

A minor yet an important update.
We’ve finally addressed a small but annoying issue that has been plaguing the Mac App Store version of DaisyDisk for quite a while. Unlike its stand-alone counterpart, the App Store’s DaisyDisk lacked the display of hidden disk space, so in some cases our App Store customers were confused by the apparent mismatch between the sum of all scanned folders and the disk’s total used space. With the recent introduction of our free license migration service, we are finally able to display the full disk usage information in both DaisyDisk versions, and give all our users a meaningful path to reveal the hidden space, if they need to.
Also in this update we’ve improved the order, in which the disks and volumes are displayed in the overview of disks. Partitions are now sorted alphabetically by their names, grouped by physical disk were they are located. (Previously, all partitions were sorted by their logical names.) Network shares are grouped by their corresponding remote servers.
